VoIP & the internet
No — VoIP (Voice over IP) sends calls as data, so it needs an internet connection to place or receive calls. What it does not need is a traditional phone line. If your internet goes down, Dialerportal automatically fails calls over to a backup: your mobile, another office, or the PSTN, so you never miss a customer. A typical VoIP call uses only ~85–100 kbps per line, so even a modest broadband or 4G/5G connection runs many calls at once.
VoIP vs PBX
A PBX (Private Branch Exchange) is the phone system that routes calls inside your business — extensions, auto-attendants, voicemail. VoIP is the technology that carries those calls over the internet instead of copper lines.
